First it was too long & it was too short. RAY CHARLES' life & career was too long to fit in a feature film.
The film Ray while clocking in over 2 hours still was too short to encompass his life & career. A Temptations like mini series may have served his story better.
Second, I think Jamie Foxx is VERY talented, but I thought his performance was for the most part MIMICRY, yes well done, but not really "acting".
I REALLY hated Ray until my aunt told me "it was a musical" & then I thought yeah...as a musical it succeeded. I applaud the producers for finding someone who can actually play the piano & sing.
But the film as a whole I just didn't think was good.
